Film Screening and Discussion Panel in Manchester
- Tuesday, 05 April 2016
Friday April 22nd 2016 – 12pm to 4.30pm, Screen 2, 70 Oxford Street, Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU)
RESYNTEX, MMU and Stitched Up will host a free event at 70 Oxford Street to mark Fashion Revolution Day 2016. The Fashion Revolution Day organisation formed in the aftermath of the 2013 Rana Plaza disaster, in which 1134 people were killed when a garment factory collapsed in Bangladesh.
The group exists to bring everyone in the fashion value chain together to help raise awareness by promoting and enhancing transparency throughout the supply chain, in order to find ways of preventing further disasters happening.
Local Manchester students, residents and everyone curious to know more are invited to attend one of the two double bill film screenings.
Films shown will be the documentaries Clothes to Die For and The Secret Life of Your Clothes. A panel of speakers, including experts on design, fashion and sustainability will then discuss the links between social and environmental aspects of fashion consumption with the audience. Questions and participation are strongly encouraged at what promises to be a lively and thought provoking event.
