The RESYNTEX project was introduced and participants had the opportunity to share their knowledge and ideas on the tasks ahead. Lutz Walter from EURATEX presented the textile situation across Europe and what solutions RESYNTEX can offer. René le Caignec from AboutGoods Company introduced the mobile application WhatUwear, which will be developed as part of the project. The application’s functions were demonstrated alongside a plan for its implementation.

Several guest speakers attended the Information Session and offered their expertise. Bilyana Spasova from ACR+ spoke about textile waste management at a local level and the role of public authorities. From Zero Waste Europe, Delphine Lévi Alvarès provided insight on the reduction, reuse and recycling of virgin textiles.

A question and answer session followed, leading to an agreement that there is much potential for recycling post-consumer textile waste in Europe. RESYNTEX aims to play a key role in the development of new circular economy concepts and will run until the end of 2018.
