Pilot Plant Construction and Testing Begins in Slovenia

This year will see the completion of RESYNTEX’s research activities across Europe. In Slovenia, the project’s pilot plant has begun operational testing in Maribor, close to the IOS facilities. This site will demonstrate the whole symbiosis concept of RESYNTEX in an industrial environment when it goes online later this year.

Full integration of the sorting, pre-treatment, chemical and enzymatic processes, as well as liquid and solid waste treatment and water recycling, will enable collection of the most comprehensive data necessary for analysis of the technology. This will help to validate the operating conditions of the pilot with multiple components in the feedstock, such as high variability of fibre types and how the distribution from batch to batch of textile waste will impact performance.

The project is scheduled to end in May 2019. Project partners look forward to sharing the findings from their research in a final conference in Brussels during April.
